40 Years Ago: TYGERS OF PAN TANG release Wild Cat

I have so many fantastic memories about that time. The band lived in London while we were recording 'Wildcat,' and we were out every night partying! All the bands used to meet at the Ship then on to the Marquee Club in Wardour Street in the West End of London. So on a typical night there would be members from Iron Maiden, Motorhead, UFO, Praying Mantis and Gary Moore just to name a few! It was a great time of friendship amongst the bands.

Wildcat was recorded in 11 days from start to finish - quick workers those Tygers boys. Chris Tsangerides, our record producer, was fantastic and keep us entertained by blowing up his playback speakers in the studio control room with too much volume going through them!

TYGERS OF PAN TANG released their debut album, Wild Cat, on this day in 1980.

I used to kind of write alone, so I can't really remember the first song we all wrote together if indeed we did! One of my first songs I wrote for the Tygers was 'Wildcats.'
