]]>Deathsworn is available from the official Belliciste bandcamp page.
]]>Since 1996 Hærleif Langås has conjured the sounds and atmosphere of Norwegian landscapes with his ambient project NORTHAUNT. Music is only one outlet, Hærleif has a collection of photographs (instagram) and in recent years has been recording videos of hiking and camping in the great northern wilderness.
Like much of NORTHAUNT's sound these videos are meditative and give another insight into the inspiration behind the music. See more on youtube.

]]>Forget Sweden!! Punishing techno deathgrind with original vocals from Finland's premier death metal outfit!!
Necropolis Records flyerLimited restock of the killer compilation 20th Adversary of Emptiness. This double disc digipak includes the entire recorded output of Finnish legends DEMILICH! The four demos released in 1991 and 1992, a session recording from their brief 2005/6 reformation.
We reformed just the way we wanted to, to finish things of with a couple of new recordings (which aren't still out, but will be this year) and with a gig or two. Well, the gig or two went to gig and three + touring in the USA, but that was a nice bonus.
Antti Boman / Demilich interview, Necromancy, 2013
The centrepiece is of course disc 1: Nespithe - their only album, one of the greatest death metal LPs!
Nespithe was originally released by US label Necropolis in 1993.
They offered us a deal with HONESTY, which seems to be forgotten by many bigger labels. Paul (NR) is also a big fan of our band and does everything to help us, so what could we expect more??? I'd rather be on Necropolis than Earache! Smaller labels can provide bands with more notice and don't think they are something higher than the band. Necropolis has been everything to us, and I hope it will always be. If we ever record another album, it will be made for them!
Antti Boman / Demilich interview, Chamber of Sorrow #4, 1993
Two UK dates this weekend:
Friday 14 February: Boom Leeds, Byron Street Mills, Leeds.
Saturday 15 February: Garage, 20-22 Highbury Corner, London.

]]>Yes, pick up some good classical like PROKOFIEV ("Alexander Nevsky Cantata", "Scythian Suite"), STRAVINSKY ("Rite of Spring", "The Firebird"), MAHLER (Symphonies V and VI), MUSSORGSKY ("Night On Bald Mountain", "Pictures At An Exhibition"). I recommend this stuff for any Black Magic Occultists, Satanists, are any BLASPHEMY intros, effect listener.
Nocturnal Grave Desecrator and Black Winds / Blasphemy interview, Holocaust #4, 1990
We started the Band in 1987 in Buffalo, New York. The only original members left are me, the singer, Brett, and our Bass player, Jason. We did a demo in '87 and lost our drummer, We came to Florida in the beginning of '88 for the Hell of it and because we had some friends down here. We bought our equipment and went to a gig. We went through about 4 or 5 drummers since we have been here. Then we did a demo in '89 called "Injected Sufferage", and also did a demo in '90 which got us our record deal with Road Runner. Since then we have put out 3 albums. "Ten Commandments," - 1991, "Retribution" - 1992, and "Stillborn" - 1993.
- Phil Fasciana / Malevolent Creation interview, Inner Source #3, 1994
New t-shirts, one for each of those original three albums, are now available.
Yeah. Something major is going to happen in the next ten years. With burning down churches you make people realise 'Wake up to the new age of fire'. Satanists are living now. And there is to much corruption in the world anyway....I think it disrupts religion. There will be a split between Catholics and the church, definitely. I'm totally against all Christianity...

I feel that C.O.F's best material is on "Dusk", but I still regard "Principle" as my favourite album, mainly because of the memories that went with it, it's those first impressions that I find hardest to relieve, so in the future I hope musically we might be able to go deeper and not just more extreme, because there's already bands doing that and then extremity suddenly becomes very fucking normal.

Cave of Ephyras... To the Infernal Fields (an unreleased EP recorded in 1996), Dark Autumn Nights (1995), and Fons Acheroni (1996).
MORTIFY - The Way of All Flesh CD
Dizziness of the Occult (1990), ...And Darkness was Upon (1993), and Promo 96.
Both TATIR and MORTIFY recorded at Storm, the studio owned and operated by George Zacharopoulos. George is bassist and vocalist in NECROMANTIA and THOU ART LORD, he was also keyboardist (as Morbid) with ROTTING CHRIST during their best early period.
Zacharopoulos' production work at Storm Studio helped the developing, now instantly recognisable, 'Greek black metal' sound of the early-mid 1990's. Bands including THOU ART LORD, VARATHRON, and ROTTING CHRIST created some of their most enduring material at Storm Studio.
Other bands that recorded at Storm Studio include:
AGATUS for their debut LP in 1994
KAWIR's early recordings, up until their first album
NERGAL for some of their early demos and debut album The Wizard of Nerath
ROTTING CHRIST's classic Non Serviam
VARATHRON recorded several classics at Storm including His Majesty at the Swamp, and Walpurgisnacht
]]>Témoignages... was released in 2012, founder Adam Widawski decided to dissolved the project later that year:
Due to unresolvable interpersonal conflicts and misunderstandings within the band HOLODOMOR has been deceased. The mental gap between myself and the other members has grown too great to surpass and I do not find it honest to continue participation in any activities related to HOLODOMOR.
The other three memebers - Steve Dean, Dan Couch and Steve Waldron - would go to form CARCINOMA.
All of the current members of Carcinoma so myself S.Dean, S.Waldron and D.Couch were members of Holodomor, it was the 3 of us and a guy named Adam on guitar and vocals, we worked well for a long time with one another but there were some differences between us and unfortunately it came to a point where we were no longer capable of working together, it was primarily Adam's project and he decided to call it a day. As soon as Holodomor was finished I contacted O.Crawford and asked him if he wanted to get Carcinoma running properly and we started to work almost immediately. After some time as I said above S.Waldon and D.Couch then showed interest and the three of us had always worked well together so it made perfect sense to work with one another again.

Whiro (pronounced Firo) is one of the chief adversarial deities of the Māori pantheon. The embodiment of evil and an underworld dweller, he feeds upon the flesh of the deceased until he has gathered enough strength to burst from the underworld, at which point he will devour all life on the surface of the earth.

Outside of his own recordings, Aleksandr works to preserve the voices of Russian ancestry directly, continuing in the tradition of field collectors like Alan Lomax by visiting villages and recording the music and stories passed down by generations.
Some of these are available on his youtube page, here are a few examples:

Audrey Sylvain (PESTE NOIRE, AMESOEURS) joins for the end of Sunsiaré, a song from their latest album L'Heure et la Trajectoire. Sung on the album by Yelena Mitseva.
The song is referencing author Suzy Durupt who wrote under the pseudonym Sunsiaré de Larcône. She published one novel in her lifetime, La Messagère (The Messenger).
In September 1962, aged 27, Durupt was killed, along with author Roger Nimier, in a highway car accident.

For me, running a record label was like balancing a dozen spinning dinner plates on wobbly spikes - always ready to come crashing to the ground at a moment's notice. That was my overriding feeling - of running a record label in the old days, on drugs.

Highly recommend for a greater appreciation of one of the UK's most important labels that played a role in death metal, anarcho-punk and early Norwegian black metal:
They were like, 'we signed you up as a fucking death metal band, what the fuck are you doing here?
- Fenriz, A Blaze in the Northern Sky video interview
The first of the two is also the first song from the debut Fyra elegier, released by Nordvis and on cassette by Night Birds / Todestrieb.
This is the very first song I wrote for Grift and it's the first song that ever was made public. When I wrote the song, I was very influenced by Johannes Edfeldt’s poetry and rhymes. I wrote the music on acoustic guitar and wanted it to sound like a dark ballad. Therefore, I think the song also fits to be performed in a more stripped-down way.
Below is a video recorded at Samhain Celebration of another song from Fyra elegier, "Den fångne".
The second recorded acoustic song is Svältorna, originally from the debut album Syner.
]]>When I wrote this song I had read an essay about "Svältbygden" ("famine land") in Västergötland, the county I come from. The land was barren and only consisted by poor soil that was difficult for the farmers to cultivate. I began to fantasize about how it was to live there in the past, how the rugged landscape must have affected peoples minds. Everything was in someone else's hands - hands belonging to forces beyond the mundane everyday life. The music had to be monotonous; almost trancelike.
Once a nation called KÄRGERÄS lived somewhere on this Earth. It was really long ago, long ago before the race of people who unjustly called themselves "Homo Sapiens" settled the Earth. At that time, our story took place. The story that did not end up happily though, but in spite of this fact it is mysteriously fair...
ROOT recently released Kärgeräs: Return from Oblivion, the follow-up to their 1996 album Kärgeräs.
Kärgeräs is a fantasy world created by Big Boss: "It only lives in my mind, the awesomely sad recollection of the cruel fate of my beloved, proud nation".
The original album was released between The Temple in the Underworld and the killer 1999 album The Book.
Part II of this story has been planned for years and is the first new material since Heritage of Satan in 2011.
In later interviews it's clear the recording of Kärgeräs in 1996 was a turbulent time:
Igor Hubik: The worst season of Root's career. Boss stopped the communication with Blackie, they were fighting between each other, drinking many alco bottles. Nevertheless they recorded great CD. I love these lyrics the most - like the set, you know. Also the music is a little bit fresher than on other CDs because the music was written along with the lyrics. It corresponds very well I think.
Big Boss: This was very bad times for Root... We have been on the edge of breakdown and our relationships was on the freezing-point....I don't like memories on this time of our existence...sorry.
Watch the "Making of" videos from 1996:
Discharge - Realities of War
The Classic first 7" from Discharge circa 1980. A monumental record that helped jumpstart the hardcore movement around the world. This is one of a handful of records from 1980 that pushed 70's punk into the bleak era of the 1980's hardcore scene. Discharge set the standard with their raw and uncompromising visual style and unbridled hardcore punk music.
Discharge - Fight Back
Five song blast of pure anger and energy, Discharge is at their finest here. Pure be beat raw punk against which all the successors can be measured. This hard driving music is the perfect vehicle for the outrage at war and oppression conveyed by the harsh lyrics and graphics.
Discharge - Decontrol
Classic three song rager from 1980. Less than a year removed from Realities of War the sound is already faster and more aggressive, leaving 70's punk behind and blazing into pure hardcore raw punk. This record has three of Discharge's best songs which are just pure blasts of raw anger and urgency. Hardcore punk at it's best.
Discharge - Never Again
It's 1981, the cold war rages, threatening to turn hot at any moment as Reagan, Thatcher and Brezhnev seem poised to destroy the world in a descent to nuclear madness. Using cover art appropriated from 1930's anti fascist agit-prop Discharge links the bleak reality of Thatcher's Britain with the descent to totalitarian oppression and war of an earlier generation. A bit more polished than the first three EPs and the Why? 12", Never Again delivers three blasts of hardcore punk. The bass playing in "Two Monstrous Nuclear Stockpiles" is probably my favorite on any hardcore record ever.
Discharge - State Violence State Control
Discharge's fifth 7", from 1982. The sound is a bit less raw and there is a tiny bit of the metal influence starting to show. The energy and power of Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing are starting to manifest on these tracks.
