In their early form, DEATHROW was your basic thrash metal band attempting to perform ferocious material (Raging Steel and Riders Of Doom) that demanded more than their abilities could muster. Just two years later, the band had matured significantly. The guys in DEATHROW found that 1988 was a headier, bar-raising new metal world; their third album, Deception Ignored, had to be light years ahead of anything they'd done previously. And it was. It wasn't even necessarily ahead of its time; it was very much of its time, rubbing shoulders with a small, rarified set of bands (Watchtower, Voivod, Coroner) taking the heavier side of metal into wilder territory in the name of progress.
The album has been out of print for nearly 20 years and fetching high dollar collector prices online, but DEATHROW has remained a cult favorite with die-hard thrash fans. This Deception Ignored limited edition contains brand new mastering exclusive to this physical reissue and brand new essay by noted author, Jeff Wagner.

Review

I am always reluctant to give a perfect score. However, the re-master quality of this now hard to find rare CD is exceptional, as are the two SCANNER re-issues. I am not quite sure how Divebomb is securing the rights to the best releases from this era, but I am always excited to hear better sounding versions of these cult bands which now no longer have to be cranked up on my I-pod, like the originals. - 5/5
