California's THE FUNERAL PYRE return with Wounds, the follow-up to last year's Prosthetic debut The Nature of Betrayal. Wounds sees the band further develop their melodious, extreme sound further into the realms of Black Metal. The keyboards may be gone but with the addition of a second guitarist, the evocative power and atmospheres are bigger than ever and Wounds has developed into their most ambitious outing to date. After extensive North American over the past two years alongside BOOK OF BLACK EARTH, SUFFOCATION, VADER, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD and labelmates, LIGHT THIS CITY and ANTAGONIST, THE FUNERAL PYRE returned to the studio with John Haddad (INTRONAUT, ABYSMAL DAWN, EYES OF FIRE) to record Wounds. The band chose to enlist the masterful mixing prowess of metal legend Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, MORBID ANGEL, CANNIBAL CORPSE) and mastering heavyweight Alan Douches (MASTODON, CONVERGE, SHADOWS FALL), resulting in their best sounding and most experimental album yet.
