25 Years Ago: MESSIAH release Rotten Perish

After the success of the "Choirs of Horrors" debut on Noise Records we did, with a lot of rehearsing time, the follow-up record "Rotten Perish" as a conceptual record. Main topics being the description of people's tragic suffering from illness coupled with our critical opinion on religious thoughts from the convinced atheist point of view. "Rotten Perish" reflects the most successful time of Messiah - musically as well as the technical performance and loyal working relationship in the band.
Countless gigs, amongst others on festivals as well as the second tour with Deicide and shows in Poland accompanied the success of "Rotten Perish". In Switzerland the record made it up the rank 7 in the sales charts, which really was an achievement but very unusual since there was no place for metal bands in the charts - let alone a death-metal band....
- R.B. "Brögi" Broggi, Liner notes

Recorded in June at Powerplay Studios, Berlin, mixed at Morrisound, Tampa; MESSIAH released Rotten Perish, their fourth album, on this day in 1992.

I speak only for my opinion and as accompanist of 99% of all ever done MESSIAH titles, but I like Rotten Perish most cause the difference between brutality and silent atmospheres. Each Album has it`s own "band and history" and the results are like mirror of each times.
