CRADLE OF FILTH released their debut album The Principle of Evil Made Flesh on this day in 1994 through Cacophonous.
The recording of our debut album went like clockwork, despite a few tense moments and fear of a stretched budget.... the end result is extremely satisfactory indeed; a very smooth clear production but aggressive and emotional at the same time. Highlights for myself personally are definitely the orchestration and keyboard parts which have the atmosphere captured almost as a film score. The overall sound is very heavy and majestic.

The tracks are generally faster but more orchestrated. The vocals tend to be the screamier side of things and the overall feeling is very much one of evil majesty. Our album can be likened to Goetia. Full of dark spirits. The actual music was written by the band as a whole, that's the way we've inclined to work, but all the lyrics were written by me and me alone.
