Virgin released Sid Sings, a posthumous Sid Vicious solo record cash-in on this day in 1979.
Danny Baker, in the NME, started his review with:
If rock 'n' roll had any backbone it would close Virgin Records down.
The majority of Sid Sings is made up of live recordings at Max's Kansas City, New York in September 1978, during the brief, chaotic, attempt at a Nancy Spungen managed solo career.
The SEX PISTOLS split in January after an aborted US tour, Spungen was killed in October. Vicious died the following February.
