The celestial voice of MORS SYPHILITICA and REQUIEM IN WHITE vocalist Lisa Hammer layered with drones, ragas, tribal drums and folk music to create a cultural and spiritual mix of Indian, medieval and modern ambience.
A dakini is an elusive tantric deity that might best be described as a female embodiment of enlightened energy. Her feminine powers are very strong: generally volatile or wrathful, though also seen as a muse (or inspirational thoughtform) for spiritual practice. She is the pure potentiality for all possible manifestations.
Review
Comparisons to Dead Can Dance, Enya and Loreena McKennitt are obvious, but that doesn’t begin to capture the special magic that Hammer (on keyboards, piano, dulcimer, bass, woodwinds, harp, synths, and more), assisted by three accompanists, unleashes on the CD’s heady mixture of Latin, English and wordless vocals combined with ethnic, dark ambient, world fusion and gothic music. Propulsive dynamism coexists with the sublime and ethereal, yet the strength of the artist’s singular artistic vision presents a unified front. Dakini is a special, unique listening experience aimed at those who hunger for music that is deep, profound and captivating. - New Age Magazine 5/5
