A supreme classic from the origins of death metal and a milestone in thrash, with a strong influence from HELLHAMMER / CELTIC FROST. A major step up in production while retaining much of the raw assault of Surrender or Die from 1985.
Review
The music of SLAUGHTER is primitive, skull-splitting Thrash/Death Metal, which should have influences quite a few bands. Acts like NAPALM DEATH ("Incinerator") and MORTICIAN ("Fuck Off Death") already covered songs off this album. WARHAMMER also should be big fans of this album. "Strappado" should be a gem for all followers of old POSSESSED and DEATH. Amusing, for a few weeks Chuck Schuldiner had been part of SLAUGHTER (no kidding!). It's also him that the song "F. O. D." ("Fuck Off Death") is dedicated to. - Metal Observer 5/5
