MALEDICERE execute their craft of harsh dissonance and patient, brooding occult ambience with a refined approach evoking the archaic and primitive elements of black metal as well as other unconventional influences. The result is a truly haunting experience that staggers between the planes of reality and the void itself. This debut celebrates the exaltation of will and the pure Satanic essence which thrives within the six chapters of ritual presented. The scythe of the sun descends.
Review
Surprisingly good disc of epic-scaled Black Metal from Minnesota, of all places. This band has been putting out demos, splits, live albums, and compilations for the last 6 years or so, but this is their first real full-length. I am pleasantly startled by how good this is, with a big sound and good riffs. The songwriting is solid if not breathtaking, the vocals are decent, and the compositions never drag despite some of them being pretty long. The guitar sound is abrasive without being too much on the treble, and the whole disc has a good, desolate atmosphere. Solid. - Metal Crypt 4/5
