20 Years Ago: ANTAEUS release De Principii Evangelikum

De Principii Evangelikum is another stone to the edifice, yet not the final one, just taking part of those pillars, making sure the schrei X kathedral is still standing and holding the void.

ANTAEUS released their second album on this day in 2002 through Osmose.

About the cd and lp, I am currently listening to the vinyl version. I am very proud to have this one out on this format, as you might guess. It is or sure a must for me to have our work pressed on vinyl format. Bigger sleeves, more bass and dynamik. The simple fact is that it came out that fast is definitely a great point to prove that Osmose are perfekt when it comes to handling thingz. About DPE itself, I knew it would fullfill my expectations. We do perform what we need to hear and experience. We are 100% into our work and we do breathe AntaeuS.

Cover artwork was again created by the prolific Timo Ketola. His other work includes covers for numerous Norma Evangelium Diaboli titles, WATAIN, CENTINEX, DISSECTION and many, many others. OPETH's logo too.

Timo died in October 2020 but his artistic legacy is sealed!

His job has always been perfekt, if any of you had the opportunity to read his fanzine(dauthvs), you would get the point in a sekond about how twisted and majestic his work is. The main problem being is "artistik" side and the fakt that the man always seems to work thingz the way he wantz and not the way he is asked to. It is not the first time we do work together, he did CYFAWS in the past, and also did work on one shirt design. For DPE I just did provide some lyrikz and some basic ideas, when T went to my place for some dayz. He did take a picture of Notre Dame kathedral, and I got amazed by the quality of his work as a photographer, since he had some extra shoots from the Swedish churches, he had the basis for the DPE layout. The same blood dried red is used and shall always be present in any full length of antaeus. Other individuals that did spawn art for us are Erik of Watain, And Abk from Krieg(France). Abk did the back of the promo for DPE.

The first album was the raw incarnation of what we were, the first step, violent, noisy, taking shape and emerging from us. "De Principii Evangelikum" had been a more mature yet colder restrained version of us, somehow limiting what could be.
