24 Years Ago: MIASMA release Love Songs (Little girl, I hope one day we will meet again)

Released on this day in 1993, Love Songs was the last major MIASMA recording. As with their only album, Changes (1992), the CD was released by Austrian label Lethal Records.

Love Song is an EP (more single than mini album) with the featured title song, an instrumental / outro / ambient track "The Unbearable Resurrection of a Suspicious Character" and a 1993 live recording of "Morbid Knocking", one of their most well-known songs.

We guess you don't know that our "Changes" album was self-financed and our contract with "Lethal Records" was very loose in that we just got the promise to get back the money from the recording and part of the sales, but this never did happen. Because of this rip-off and due to personal conflicts the band split in summer of 1993, but all wasn't lost as Gregor Schmidt, Peter Prochazka and Johannes Attems continued with a change of style to progressive metal. Finally finding a singer in summer 1995, we recorded a new demo in album-length, played a few club gigs and called it a day one year later.

Several members later formed DESTINATION VOID. Xibalba (2009) is currently their only release.

Cindy was a girl, never able to reach the island
of ultimate orgasm. Just one penis, no matter
how big and hard, to fuck her was not enough.
Slowly her body started to take control over her
mind and life - was it just simple lust or a
curious yearning? To get fucked the most brutal
way became her only pleasure... And still she
could not get enough meat... And finally one
day her vagina forced her to make "the" final
decision... Her last one!

To evoke some psychopaths was her aim, to fuck
her again and again. Her impured cunt and
mind became one and made her enter a
dimension of total perversion and everlasting
screams: "Take my body, it's all yours, teach me
how to pass the closed doors, which separate
lust from sexual pain." And this was the first
step to make her life go down the drain.

Abominations with cocks as big and hot as glowing
swords, just released from the fire of eternity stuffed
her every hole. Cindy felt like her body was just
one wide open spread vagina... But still she could
not get enough to fulfil her desire. So the
creatures started to penetrate her flesh and
soon little Cindy was fucked to a bloody mess.

Suddenly a strange voice appeared out of nowhere:
"Let me fuck into her heart and she will be with
us forever." ...

And finally as they penetrated her heart, she
passed the frontier between lust and pain...
Good and bad was nevermore, God was just a
hazy memory. Her body slowly faded away, no
time left to pray. With her body forever gone,
her soul is condemned to burn in the fire of
solitude and everlasting yearning for all times...

Now, as I'm standing here at Cindy's grave and
the rain of a million centuries is falling down
on earth to wash away all the sins, I know: "Death
is God and God is the spirit of all sadness and
pain. Little girl, I hope one day we will meet again.
You know, what I mean, at another place, in
another time... Maybe then you will be mine."

Try to reach the island in this bloodred sea, try to
reach this island, then you will be free!

MIASMA WAS FOUNDED IN VIENNA, NOVEMBER 1990 BY PETER PROHAZKA (GUIT.), CHRISTIAN WODITSCH (VOC.), GREGOR SCHMIDT (DR.), AND JOHANNES ATTEMS (BASS.) WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CHRISTIAN ALL MEMBERS HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN ACTIVE IN SEVERAL OTHER BANDS AND GREGOR STILL PLAYED IN ANOTHER DEATH METAL BAND, CALLED CALDERA. DECEMBER 1990 SAW MIASMA'S FIRST LIVE PERFORMANCE, AS THEY WERE OPENING FOR GREGOR'S OTHER BAND IN THE "GRAFITTI", A METAL CLUB IN VIENNA, SITUATED IN THE CITY'S CENTER, CLOSE TO THE PRESTIGIOUS "WIENER STAATSOPER" (IF THEY ONLY KNEW). AFTER SOME LINE UP CHANGES (GERHARD REPLACED CHRITIAN ON VOC., GÜNTER JOINED AS 2nd GUIT.), THE RECORDING OF THE DEMO TAPE (MARCH '91, PRODUCED BY MARTIN SCHIRENC OF PUNGENT STENCH, AND SEVERAL GIGS AT HOME AND ABROAD, MIASMA RECORDED THEIR FIRST (AND SO FAR ONLY) FULL LENGTH ALBUM "CHANGES" IN OCTOBER '91 DURING THE EVENINGS OF FIVE DAYS. AGAIN MARTIN SCHIRENC PROVED AS AN INVALUABLE HELP FOR THE BAND, AS HE HELPED IN RECORDING AND MIXING PROCESS, WHICH ULTIMATELY LEAD TO A BRUTAL YET TRANSPARENT OVERALL SOUND. THE RECORD WAS RELEASED THROUGH LETHAL RECORDS. FOR CLARIFICATION, IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT GREGOR, GERHARD, AND GÜNTER CHOSE TO USE THE PSEUDONYMS CAPRAL ADORATOR, GOREHEAD,AND ARES CANCER,RESPECTIVELY. THIS WAS DONE BECAUSE OF THE STRIKING SIMILARITYOF THEIR FIRST NAMES. MANY GIGS, INCLUDING A FULL EUROPEAN TOUR SUPPORTING DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA(NOVEMBER '92), FOLLOWED AND IN SPRING '93 THE MINI CD "LOVE SONGS". BY THEN MIASMA HAD A GOOD REPUTATION IN THE DEATH METAL SCENE. HOWEVER, SHIT HAPPENS AND SO LETHAL RECORDS DID NOT PAY A DIME AND THE BAND CONSEQUENTLY DECIDED TO LEAVE THE LABEL IN THE SUMMER OF '93. UNFORTUNATELY THIS BROUGHT THE OVERALL AMBITION OF THE BAND TO A HALT AND, DESPITE SOME LATER APPEARANCES OF GREGOR, PETER, AND JOHANNES IT WAS THE SUMMER OF '93 WHEN MIASMA PRACTICALLY CEASED TO EXIST AS A DEATH METAL BAND. NAPALM RECORDS RE-RELEASED CHANGES IN 2001. HOWEVER, IT TOOK ROUGHLY ANOTHER FOUR YEARS UNTIL MIASMA WAS REANIMATED MAINLY DUE TO GÜNTERS DEVOTION.EXCEPT FOR PETER MIASMA INITIALLY CONSISTED OF THE "CHANGES" LINEUP. JOHANNES SUFFERED FROM A SEVERE LACK OF TIME AND CONSEQUENTLY WAS REPLACED BY MICHI WHILE JHONNY JOINED AS 2nd. GUITARIST. GREGOR LEFT THE BAND,CAME BACK AGAIN ONLY TO LEAVE AGAIN BUT FINALLY MADE IT BACK WHEN THE BAND HAD THEIR FIRST GIG IN THE NEW MILLENIUM ON NOVEMBER '07. TWO HIGHLY ACCLAIMED GIGS FOLLOWED IN EARLY '08, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN GERHARD AND GÜNTER WERE FACED WITH THE DECISION OF THE OTHER MEMBERS THAT THEY WOULD LEAVE THE BAND. THEY NOW WORK UNDER THE NEW AND VERY PROMISING NAME "DESTINATION VOID". JOHANNES JOINS GOOD OLD MIASMA AGAIN AND THIS WHERE WE RIGHT NOW. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST "WE ARE WORKING ON A NEW ALBUM".
