The black sermon has finally arrived - Swedish mourners MAJALIS's inauguration into the gloom scene brings forth an introductory mini-CD entitled Cathodic Black, a lengthy three-track EP that delivers a mire of somber misery and unnerving open wounds.
The dispirited souls lurking in MAJALIS are no strangers to the scene; comprising of current and former members from IN MOURNING and OCTOBER TIDE, Cathodic Black serves as an outlet for an even more immersed and far more atmospheric state of drone-like torment.
Review
If you can imagine a post-rock mutation of In Mourning or October Tide, you'd be coming close to the sound of Majalis. And if that concept is too hard to wrap your mind around, then just listen to the EP below. If you're like me, you'll get lost in Cathodic Black and not want to find your way back. - No Clean Singing 5/5
